In order to keep up to speed on what/when assignments are due it is imperative that students develop a system of organization. At ISB and in my classes our system is centered around student planners. (Every student receives an ISB student planner in the fall.)

As technology advances and the accessibility to Internet, email, and websites becomes increasingly part of our lives, I continue to believe that personal communication is the most valuable way to check in with your child. As discussed at parent teacher night your child is the best source for you to find out what is going on in class.

In science and math classes their is a designated time at the end of the day to write homework assignments in our planner. We do this as a class and it is expected that your student participate because knowing what is assigned is the first step to being successful at completing homework. For absent students a running planner that I keep will be accessible in class. Please check in with your student and ask to see their planner as this is where the conversation about homework can begin.

Every class also has a running journal of in-class notes that I keep with daily class progress. If your student is absent or unsure of in-class work this is the first place to start.

We are off to a great start with a high percentage of students completing homework assignments. Thank you for your support and help in making our students successful learners!

Happy Fall,
Caitlin Anghilante

Science 6--Week of 9/22

This week in science we have been exploring inquiry!
We are actively participating in the "Designing the Investigation" phase as students are creating experiments at home to answer the question: "How can you make a penny the shiniest?"
This is a pre-assessment, so take a deep breath! More to come.....

WELCOME!!

Hello Students and Parents,

Welcome to the Science and Math page for Ms. Anghilante's classes at ISB! This is a place where you can check in on:

*General topics for the week

*Upcoming events and topics

*Major due dates for projects

For now, pay attention to the title of the blog to make sure you are tuning in to the correct class (Science 6, Math 8, and Algebra 1). The organization may change a bit once I get my feet wet with this whole blogging idea (I'm a first timer!)

This blog may evolve in uses as the year proceeds and should be considered supplementary to information provided in class. Comments and suggestions are welcomed!

Please feel free to email me at caitlin_anghilante@beaverton.k12.or.us. I look forward to a great year in Science and Math!

Cheers,

Caitlin Anghilante

Science/Math Teacher

International School of Beaverton

"every day is a great day...."
